Year 9 – 10 (Stage 5 History) – The Making of the Modern World and Australia
The Stage 5 curriculum provides a study of the history of the making of the modern world from 1750 to 1945. In year 9 students study the period of industrialisation and the rapid change in the ways people lived, worked, and thought. This is followed by World War I and World War II. In year 10 students study the history of the modern world and Australia from 1945 to the present, Emphasis is placed on Australia in its global context. Topics studied include, the Vietnam War, Migration Experiences, Rights and Freedoms, and Popular Culture during the 1950s and 1960s.
