About Science
The science faculty is dedicated to teaching and learning and are passionate bout science. The science faculty believes that an understanding of science should be part of every students' life. Science is all around us in the food we eat, our homes, transport, infra-structure and everywhere in between. The science staff bring the twenty first century into the classroom and create blended learning in the classroom learning. Practical and hands-on lessons are a major part of the learning program and offer our students learning that is exciting and engaging

- Making Science interesting, engaging, fun and relevant.
- Support a Year 6 transition program and work with our primary partners to build Scientific interest in our future students.
- Increase the flexibility of learning opportunities by enabling access to the on-line learning platform, STILE for all students and ensuring learning spaces are inviting places in which to learn.
OUR STRATEGIES
- Ensure that there is a practical element in all lessons that allow students to collaboratively work together.
- Project-based learning is embedded as a major strategy to engage students in their own learning.
- Excursions and incursions are used to enhance learning in a real environment giving authentic learning experiences to our students.
- HSC tutorial groups are used to supplement student learning for the HSC providing focused review and revision.
- Science Week every August promotes the importance of science as an area of study and career.
- The Environment Group allows students to learn about the environment and play an active role in being an environmentally aware and active citizen.
- Link to the university and hospital to provide authentic learning opportunities for students.
- Creating a Science Club to engage interested students in fun, practical activities outside of the scheduled class time.
